Help Your Students, Launch a Campus Ministry At Their School!
Discipling your students is important to you, isn’t it? Of course, it is. Part of Jesus’ discipleship process with the original twelve involved sending them out to do ministry. In Luke 10, Jesus sends his followers out to the towns and villages where He was about to go to proclaim the Gospel and heal the sick. When they came back, they shared the amazing things that God had done. This was an essential part of the discipleship process – a failure to do ministry limits our spiritual growth. To help your students grow deeper and stronger, we have to equip them and send them out. Wouldn’t it be great if we had a place we could send our students each week to do ministry, and they come back excited about how God has used them? I believe their schools are the perfect place!
In Acts 1:8, Jesus told his disciples to be His witnesses in Jerusalem, Judea & Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. For teenagers, their school is Jerusalem! It is a mission field with hundreds of students who need Jesus. And that makes them missionaries. But the great news is – they don’t have to do this alone! The Equal Access Act of 1984 (upheld by the Supreme Court in 1990) says that students are allowed to have Christian clubs in their schools. They can legally connect with all of the believers in their school and share God’s love with their school – together! There are ministries all over the country that help students start clubs like these, but if you don’t have one of those around you, we want to give you a “how-to” guide with 7 steps to equip your students to launch one.
As you help your students lead a ministry in their schools, I encourage you to use your weekly meetings to send them out, pray for, and encourage them. And when they come back, give them time to share their stories of how God has used them with all of your other students. And watch the fire spread!
