60 Second: Better Small Group Leading: Want to make the most of your time with students each week? Small groups are where faith grows deep—if we lead with purpose. Here’s how to level up:
1. Show Up Consistently. Relationships don’t form in a flash. Be there regularly and on time. Presence builds trust.
2. Listen More Than You Talk. Students don’t need a mini-sermon—they need someone who hears them. Ask, listen, repeat.
3. Create a Safe Space. No judgment. No shaming. Make it clear: “This is a group where it’s okay to not be okay.”
4. Be Prepared, Not Scripted. Know the material, but stay flexible. If the conversation takes a meaningful turn—follow it.
5. Follow Up. Text midweek. Celebrate milestones. Pray for them. One check-in can mean the world.
