“Shape Shifters” (Group Glow Game)

glow in the dark game
  • Quick Explanation
Glowing Shape Shifter is a fun, creative team game played in the dark where players use glow bracelets or necklaces to form shapes, objects, or words called out by the leader. Teams compete to see who can be the most accurate—and once the basics are mastered, advanced challenges like movement and waves add extra excitement.

  • Supplies Needed

    • Glow bracelets or necklaces (cheap ones from dollar stores work great)

    • A dark room or outdoor area at night

    • Optional: music for added fun

  • How to Play

    1. Divide players into at least two teams.

    2. Give each player a glow bracelet or necklace.

    3. Call out a shape, object, or word.

    4. Teams work together to form the shape using their glowing accessories.

    5. Once everyone is comfortable, add advanced elements like moving shapes, talking mouths, or ocean waves.

  • Rules

    • Everyone on the team must use their glow item in the formation.

    • Shapes should be visible and recognizable from the front.

    • Teams can adjust quickly if the leader calls out a new shape.

    • No running into other teams—safety first in the dark.

  • Bonus Ideas

    • Play to music and have teams dance or sway while holding shapes.

    • Time teams to see who can form shapes fastest.

    • Use multiple glow colors for more complex designs.

    • Award points for creativity or accuracy.

  • Teaching Lead In with Scripture
This game is a great reminder of 1 Corinthians 12:12, which says, “Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ.” Each player contributes to the shape, just like every member of the body of Christ has a unique role to play. Together, we create something bigger than ourselves.
