Game: “Silly Sloppy Slingshot Scramble”
Supplies:
-
Water balloon slingshot – At least 1; 2–4 for larger groups, bigger areas, or a more advanced challenge
-
Towels or old youth group T-shirts – Enough for one per team of 4 students (Pro tip: this is where old youth group shirts go to die)
-
A wide variety of food – Preferably soft, weird, gross, or sloppy—but SAFE! Must be throwable and able to fly
Suggested Food Items:
-
Hot dogs (the classic)
-
Twinkies or other snack cakes
-
Eggs (use with caution)
-
Pickles
-
Chunks of Spam
-
Large marshmallows
-
Bananas
-
Dog biscuits
-
Assorted bread (or homemade “bread balls”)
-
Limburger cheese
-
Tomatoes or other soft fruits/veggies
-
Basically…whatever strange, soft stuff you can find on a ridiculous grocery run!
Pro Tip: Perfect use for camp or retreat leftovers—this whole game was born from one!
Setup Area:
-
Must be outdoors—a large field or an open parking lot (DO NOT attempt indoors unless you’re trying to get fired)
Instructions & Rules:
-
Form teams of 4. Each team gets a 6-ft beach towel (or large T-shirt) and spreads out in the play area, holding the 4 corners of their towel.
-
On “Go,” leaders launch “sloppy food” through the air using the water balloon slingshot(s).
-
Teams try to catch the food using only their towel.
Scoring:
-
+5 points for a caught item
-
–1 point if it hits a player instead
(Yes, we purposely fire a few fastballs with the softer items…for reasons.)
Optional Add-ons:
-
Create zones for higher point values
