A Stage or An Altar

stage or altar

In every church, there’s a platform. But what that platform represents—and how it’s used—can reveal a lot about the heart of the church. Is it an altar or a stage?

This isn’t about architecture. It’s about posture.

Has the focus DRIFTED to focus only on the GIFTED?  Have congregation in sanctuaries  become audience in auditoriums? Has the goal become impact over intimacy?

Ten Thoughts…

10. A stage showcases talent, An altar surrenders talent.

9. A stage seeks applause. An altar seeks God’s presence.

8.  A stage is about performance, An altar is about sacrifice.

7. A stage draws attention to people, An altar draws attention to Jesus.

6. A stage entertains the crowd. An altar invites transformation.

5. A stage values polish, An altar values posture.

4.  A stage measures success by reaction, An altar measures success by obedience.

3. A stage creates fans. An altar forms disciples.

2. A stage is where we say, “Look at Self. An altar is where we “Look at the Savior”

1. A stage elevates performance. An altar elevates Christ.
