Quick Explanation
Landmines is a fun, fast-paced team game where players navigate “landmines” (paper plates with challenges) in the middle of the field. It’s perfect for teens and can also serve as a creative introduction to discussions about temptation, choices, and consequences. -
Supplies Needed
-
Several paper plates
-
Marker or pen to write actions on the plates
-
Open play area
-
Optional: cones or tape to mark team lines
-
-
How to Play
-
Write a variety of actions or challenges on paper plates and place them face-down in the middle of the playing area.
-
Divide players into two teams and have them line up behind their starting lines.
-
On “go,” the first player from each team runs to the middle, picks a plate, and completes the action written on it.
-
Return to their team, then the next player goes.
-
Continue until all team members have completed an action. The first team to do so wins.
-
-
Rules
-
Each action on a plate can only be done once.
-
Players must complete the action fully before returning to their team.
-
No skipping plates or taking plates out of turn.
-
Encourage safe and respectful behavior—actions should be fun, not harmful or overly embarrassing.
-
-
Bonus Ideas
-
Mix in silly, tricky, or slightly embarrassing actions to keep energy high.
-
Add a time limit to make it more competitive.
-
Use different shapes or colors for plates to indicate difficulty levels or bonus points.

Teaching Lead-In with Scripture
This game is a great way to open a discussion about the “landmines” of life—temptations and choices that can trip us up. Use Genesis 4:6-7, where God warns Cain about sin crouching at his door, or 1 Peter 5:8, which reminds us to stay alert because the devil prowls like a roaring lion. After playing, reflect with your group on how we can recognize and avoid life’s landmines with God’s help.
